College Facilities
Gym
Access to the College Gym is available to all students following an induction on the use of the equipment. The gym contains treadmills, cross trainers, rowing machines, a variety of resistance machines and a new range of weights split across two rooms. The gym is run by the JCR and membership is priced at a very reasonable £25 for the year. For health and safety reasons you must be accompanied at all times when using the facilities. To gain access to the gym when it is locked, two people will need to show and leave their campus cards at Reception.
Sports Court
The sports court is free to use and located behind Williamson building. You can book the sports court out via this link. Providing the Tennis and Netball clubs don’t have training or matches, anyone can book out the courts. Please do be aware that you do need a booking to use them, even if no-one is on the courts at that time
Bar
The bar is located in basement of East Wing of the Fergusson building. It opens 19:00 every night and closes at 23:00 except for Fridays and Saturdays when it stays open until midnight. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are very reasonable priced. Throughout the year the bar hosts quiz nights, live lounges and karaoke, which always prove very popular! Whether you are looking to start your evening or just looking for a quiet pint and a chat, the bar is a great place to meet people. You can find more information in Instagram @stmarysbar
MCR Common Room
The MCR Common Room is situated in the Williamson Building opposite the Gym. The MCR is a popular place for postgraduates to socialise, read, relax, watch television and eat. The Common Room is furnished with comfy chairs and television. It also has a large kitchen, which is particularly useful for postgraduates self‐cater during undergraduate vacations. To gain access to the Common Room you will need to scan your campus card at the entrance. If you believe you should have access, but don’t, then please email [email protected]
Toastie Bar
Our student-run Toastie Bar sells a variety of tasty toasties in case you fancy a quick snack. The Toastie Bar is located in the basement opposite the bar. It is open in the evenings from 20:30 until 22:30.
Library
The library is located on the first floor of east wing Fergusson. It is a silent study location with both textbooks and fiction books available to take out.
Reading Room
Located on the other side of Fergusson to the JCR, the reading room is a popular study location. There is also a wide selection of books for everyone to read, and a printer for use on a PAYG system. It is a much cosier location than the library with old wooden tables and comfy armchairs.
